The colleges and universities located in Toledo serve more than 28,000 graduate and undergraduate students.
Largest among these colleges is University of Toledo. The university offers more than 250 programs, and is well known for its schools of law, pharmacy and engineering. About 19,000 students attend.
The Medical University of Ohio is also part of the higher education scene in Toledo. Situated on a 450-acre campus, the medical school has about 2,000 students, 400 full time faculty and operates three hospitals.
Owens Community College serves over 45,000 students, including many in the city’s business community. It has more that 150 programs, and is said to be the fastest growing college in the state.
Other colleges in the city include Mercy College, a Catholic college for health care professionals; Stautzenberger College, a small job-oriented school and Davis College, a small, private, two-year college.
Almost 37,000 students attend public schools in Toledo, making it the fourth largest system in Ohio. The city school district operates a total of 61 schools throughout the city. Toledo also has almost 70 private schools, mostly church affiliated, from pre-K through high school.
